Sky High for Kids hosted their annual West Texas Banquet and Sporting Clay Tournament on Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8, garnering an astounding $840,000 to support children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening conditions.

On Thursday, Sept. 7, the Bush Convention Center shimmered with guests donning elegant western attire – their looks complete with intricately designed cowboy boots and captivating rustic hats. The event kicked off with a vibrant cocktail hour, where philanthropists mingled and connected with like-minded individuals. As the evening unfolded, attendees took their seats for an elegantly presented dinner, perfectly setting the stage for the touching speeches that ensued. The emcee of the evening, Taylor Sass, took the stage, eloquently addressing the significance of Sky High for Kids’ overarching mission and the remarkable impact it has on the lives of children and families facing challenging health battles, a press release said.

As always at a Sky High event, the highlight of the evening was the highly anticipated live auction conducted by Brittany Hebert Franklin. Showcasing an assortment of thoughtfully curated packages, the auction created an atmosphere of excitement and generosity. Bidders enthusiastically competed for exclusive experiences that not only promised unforgettable memories but also contributed significantly to the noble cause championed by Sky High for Kids.

The excitement continued the following morning at Jake’s Clays. Energized from the previous evening, guests were filled with anticipation for a day of friendly competition, eager to showcase their accuracy and skills through rounds of sporting clays. Before the morning flight time commenced, guests gathered for a balloon release paying tribute to the brave Cancer Warriors who have faced or are currently fighting cancer.

The day was divided into two flight times: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Guests meticulously carried out their respective flights, navigating through the competition with skill and precision. After the flights, everyone gathered for a celebratory awards ceremony, where exceptional achievements were recognized and celebrated.
