Past District Governor swears in officers, board members of three Odessa Rotary Clubs

Rotary International Past District Governor Charles Cotton presided over a joint meeting of Odessa’s three Rotary Clubs on June 28 to swear in the new officers and board members of the combined clubs for the 2023-2024 year. Mr. Cotton gave a brief overview of the history of Rotary International and the worldwide service projects Rotary has championed such as the Polio Plus program, which has nearly eradicated polio through the world.

The three incoming Rotary Club presidents – Kim Ortega of the Odessa Rotary Club, Bill Nyborg of the Greater Odessa Rotary Club, and Jess Walker of the Odessa East Rotary Club – took their oath of office, followed by Mr. Cotton swearing in the board members of all three clubs before the gathering of Rotary club members at Odessa College.

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members of more than 35,000 Rotary Clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work impacts lives at both the local and international levels, from helping families in need in their own communities to working toward a polio-free world.
