On the evenings of Dec. 8 and 9, student volunteers from Odessa Christian School manned a cocoa stand in the Shiloh Road area.

They served approximately 250 cups of cocoa to those enjoying Christmas lights, and were able to collect approximately $1,600 in donations to purchase stuffed animals for Ronald McDonald House Charities to be distributed to children at Medical Center Hospital.

Odessa Christian was able to purchase 64 stuffed animals through Westlake Hardware, whose Manager Terry Grant donated a 20% discount on the purchase of the toys. On Jan. 10, the students presented the stuffed animals to Roselva Ruiz, Program Manager for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Permian Basin, with Grant of Westlake Hardware on hand.
