MIDLAND Midland Young Life hosted its Annual “Round Up” Fundraiser Monday, October 16, at the Bush Convention Center. The event hosted over 730 attendees as well as 95 current Young Life kids who greeted and served guests, a news release said.

Entertainment was provided by artists Rob and Danielle Goates from Silver Billy Music and food catered by Midland Meat Co’s Half Acre. A live auction included large ticket items donated by the Nesloney Family, Sam L. Majors, Dan and Jenni Hord, Boren Orthodontics and more.

True to tradition, the night’s theme was “Western Chic.” Program was presented by Young Life staff and included testimonials from high school students on the impact of Young Life. A special story highlighted that evening included a testimony from Midland’s first NextGen Leader (NGL) staff member who was introduced to Young Life in Marfa. NGL is a special two year program that creates a pathway for diverse and emerging ministry staff.

Young Life is a non-denominational outreach whose mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Since 1976, thousands of Midland students have been positively impacted by this time-tested relational ministry, many of whom have come back to serve as donors, volunteer leaders, and local committee members. Midland Young Life has worked to create a presence at both public and private high schools and are currently working to expand into Greenwood and re-establish Odessa Young Life. Alongside traditional outreach, they conduct two focus areas — Capernaum works to engage students with mental and physical disabilities and YoungLives seeks to engage pregnant and parenting teens.

Young Life’s Annual Round Up was made possible by sponsorships, volunteers, staff, and the local Young Life Area Committee, chaired by Nate and Beth Saxon.
