The Medical Center Health System Foundation Board has approved the funding for the purchase of four Radiometer T-Com monitoring systems for the NICU. The funds will come from Children’s Miracle Network and the total cost of these important monitoring systems is $53,851.64.

The Radiometer T-Com units are an evidence based, non-invasive method to monitor a baby’s carbon dioxide levels while on a ventilator. This prevents the need for multiple blood draws on an already sensitive patient and reduces the risk of long-term tissue injury to the baby’s heels. They will be used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

“Thanks to the generosity and dedication of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and the Medical Center Health System Foundation, our NICU will continue to provide the best of care to our most vulnerable patients with most up-to-date technology,” Sam Serrano, Children’s Miracle Network Program Manager, said in a news release. “MCH’s partnership with the Foundation and CMN allows this hospital to stay at the forefront of healthcare technology and care for our tiniest patients.”
