GOOD NEWS: Odessa Rotary Club inducts newest member

The Odessa Rotary Club inducted its newest member on Wednesday, May 17, during their luncheon on the Odessa College campus. New member Tony Hurt was sponsored into the Club by his father, Rodney Hurt, a longtime member of the organization.

Featured speaker at the meeting was Eric Baker, Chair of Visual and Performing Arts at Odessa College and organizer of the annual West Texas Jazz Party in Odessa. Mr. Baker give an excellent overview of the West Texas Jazz Party which is presented by the West Texas Jazz Society each year, and encouraged all Rotarians to attend this year’s event which will be held June 2-3 at the Odessa Marriott. This will be the 57th year that the Jazz Party has been held in Odessa, making it the “Longest Running Jazz Party in the World.”

Rotary, the world’s first service club, is an organization of business and professional persons, united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and build goodwill and peace in the world.
