The Odessa Rotary Club recently enjoyed an update at their weekly meeting held at Odessa College from Chris Morrison BCAo, founder and president of Care Highway International, on the organization’s Children’s Home in Kericho, Africa.

Morrison spoke of all of the building and equipment advances that this home located in Kenya has undergone since the Odessa Rotary Club adopted it as the club international project almost a decade ago.

In addition to updating existing structures and building a new school, the Odessa Rotary Club’s fundraising efforts have given livestock, farming utensils, and medical supplies to this home for orphaned children in Africa.

Care Highway International, a nonprofit children’s charity founded in 1997 by Morrison, is dedicated to encouraging community resiliency by improving children’s health, nutrition, and access to education.

The Odessa Rotary Club has raised more than $100,000 through its Celebrity Roast, which has “honored” Odessans such as past mayors Larry Melton, Mike Atkins and Lorraine Perryman, John Landgraf, and Richard Morton, among others.

The Odessa Rotary Club meets for lunch each Wednesday on the OC Campus and new members are always welcome.
