The Odessa Rotary Club welcomed Darlene Mays with the Woodson Boys & Girls Club to address their meeting on Wednesday, April 17, on the Odessa College campus. Ms. Mays gave an inspirational talk about her health challenges and encouraged the Rotary members to appreciate and thank God for their own good health.
Ms. Mays then updated the club on the upcoming Woodson Boys & Girls Club Children’s Literacy & Reading Festival planned for July 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Woodson Club on 1037 E. Murphy Street in Odessa. Hundreds of Odessa children gather to receive free books, backpacks, school supplies and more at this annual event, which the Odessa Rotary Club has supported for several years. Club President Kim Ortega presented Ms. Mays with a donation from the Odessa Rotary Club for $1,000 to support this important literacy event.
