GOOD NEWS: Chukkers for Children raises $1.6 Million for Bynum School

MIDLAND Under a billowing white tent, more than 600 guests gathered to watch a thrilling game of polo, enjoy gourmet food and beverages, bid on one-of-a-kind auction items, and listen to live entertainment in support of Bynum School.

The sold-out fundraiser gave donors a chance to witness one of the oldest team sports in the world while raising a record-setting $1.6 million for a worthwhile cause. Since its inaugural match in 2018, Chukkers for Children has raised more than $3.2 million for the area’s only year-round school for individuals with disabilities. The bi-annual event helps ensure children and adults with disabilities in the Permian Basin have access to quality programs and services, regardless of their mental or physical ability.

“The opportunity to partner with the Midland Polo Club has given us a unique fundraising opportunity,” Keri St. John, executive director of Bynum School, said. “We are so thankful to the club, donors, and sponsors for their generosity.”

The event helps the school fund student grants, educational initiatives, operations, and therapeutic services, including occupational, speech, physical, and neurologic music therapy.

“We feel humbled and blessed by the community’s support,” Tracy Bush, Bynum School Director of Development, said. “The money we raised will help some very deserving students.
