Building a strong community: 92-year-old is paying it forward

“I don’t care if you’re 6 years old or 60, you need to be active and be a contributor to society,” says Jack Rogers, resident of retirement community Holiday Polo Park Estates. At 92 years old, Rogers is paying it forward and encourages others to do the same.

He founded Midland Walkabout Volkssport Club 22 years ago to stay active and dedicates 3 days a week to volunteering with local organizations to help get food and clothes into the hands of those that need it.

Jack volunteers his extra time to AMOS Food Pantry on Mondays and Baptist Crisis Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. “I’m just trying to give back to God what God has given me with this extra time on Earth.”

“I will keep working as long as they’ll let me,” says Jack. “No one in this town should go hungry or without clothes.”
