UTPB to host book signings

University of Texas Permian Basin has two book signings on campus this week.

Randy Rattlesnake is a children’s book written by UTPB College of Education faculty member, Tara Wilson. Randy Rattlesnake is an educational and entertaining tale that follows the journey of Randy, a landowner faced with a big decision when an oil company expresses interest in drilling on his land.

Set against the backdrop of a West Texas town, the story introduces young readers to the world of energy exploration. This book also introduces readers to various careers in the oil field, shedding light on the diverse roles and responsibilities within the industry.

The signing for Randy Rattlesnake is 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Heimmermann Center (2nd floor of the Mesa Building, 2104).

Murder and Mayhem in West Texas was written by UTPB criminal justice students. In class in spring 2023, students dug deep into unsolved murder mysteries in West Texas. Students who contributed to the book will be present for the book signing.

Murder and Mayhem in West Texas explores selected violent crimes. The contributors to this book explore and analyze the available public information on several cases to give the reader a better understanding of each crime. Some of the cases include Kiss and Kill Betty; The Murder of Eula Miller; Finding Monica Carrasco; The Murder of the Fieseler Family; serial murder in Odessa and more.

The signing for Murder and Mayhem in West Texas is 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 1 in the Heimmermann Center (2nd floor of the Mesa Building, 2104).
