MIDLAND The Alzheimer’s Association of West Texas will host a Lunch and Learn from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Manor Park.

The lunch and learn will delve into the topics of depression, diabetes, dementia, the vulnerability that comes with aging, and ways to live a healthy lifestyle, a news release said.

“We are so excited to partner with our Local Presenting Walk to End Alzheimer’s Sponsor, the Village at Manor Park, to bring this education event to the Permian Basin to enhance our communities’ awareness of this disease, provide tools to help care for those living with the disease and ways to mitigate our risk factors. Julie Gray, director of development, Alzheimer’s Association, West Texas Chapter, said in the release.

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Texas alone, there are more than 400,000 people living with the disease and 1 million caregivers.
