The Black Cultural Council of Odessa organizes the largest Juneteenth celebration in the state of Texas. This year’s three-day celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. June 14 at First United Methodist Church, 405 N. Lee St., with Pastor Bradley A. Hale of Center, Texas.

Juneteenth honors the day when slaves in Texas learned of their emancipation. A number of activities are planned for the whole family including musical performances, a parade, multicultural exhibits, a morning set aside for youth educational programs and much more.
