Distinguished Lecture Series features the man behind Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

The Shepperd Leadership Institute has scheduled a special evening with Richard Montañez, the renowned former PepsiCo executive, motivational speaker, and the man behind the iconic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The free event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center and promises an unforgettable story on perseverance, innovation, and the transformative power of self-belief, a press release said.

Richard Montañez started his journey as a janitor at Frito-Lay Rancho Cucamonga plant in California. With no formal education in business, he demonstrated unparalleled innovation and initiative by creating one of the most beloved snacks – the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. His meteoric rise from janitor to one of the most influential leaders in the corporate world is not just a testament to his genius but also a beacon of inspiration for countless individuals worldwide.

“We are immensely honored to host Mr. Montañez at our Distinguished Lecture Series. His life story is a powerful reminder that with passion, dedication, and an unwavering belief in oneself, there’s no limit to what one can achieve,” Savannah Woodward, Director of Special Events, Shepperd Leadership Institute, said in the release. “What an amazing opportunity the West Texas community is being afforded.”

The lecture will feature a Q&A session, diving deeper into Mr. Montañez’s experiences, his thoughts on leadership, and his advice for budding entrepreneurs and innovators. Attendees will have the ability to purchase Mr. Montañez’s book, Flamin’ Hot: The Incredible True Story of One Man’s Rise From Janitor to Top Executive, while supplies lasts.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is free to the community, and is made possible by the donors of the Shepperd Inner Circle.
