Annual Awards for Excellence celebrates 45 top seniors

Six high schools, 45 excellent seniors, and one grand evening to celebrate them.

Ector County ISD’s 37th annual Awards for Excellence banquet to honor some of the district’s top seniors begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the MCM Elegante.

The students’ families are there to enjoy the recognition, and each student selects a favorite teacher who is also introduced at the time of the award. The program is designed to celebrate all the factors that go into producing great students: kids who are talented and determined, parents who are dedicated and supportive, teachers who challenge and inspire them, and school leaders, district leaders and community members who ensure there are resources to allow kids to pursue their interests and passions, a news release stated.

The Odessa High School Harps will provide entertainment during the meal and the awards presentation begins at approximately 7:15 p.m. The 45 students are selected across nine academic and extra-curricular areas.
