MCH being sued by recruitment firm

A nurse recruitment firm has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Medical Center Hospital alleging the hospital wrongfully tried to alter recruitment incentives and owes them $1,875,000.

According to the lawsuit filed last week in Ector County District Court, the hospital hired NSI Nursing Solutions of Pennsylvania in April 2022 to qualify, interview and schedule candidates for on-site interviews and to pay employees a “recruitment-transition incentive” from NSI revenues received from the hospital.

Such incentives, the lawsuit states, were to be determined by NSI.

NSI extended offers to 52 candidates and 36 of them were hired, the lawsuit stated.

According to the lawsuit, after the candidates were hired, the hospital demanded NSI alter the recruitment incentive “because MCH wanted the candidates to commit to no less than 24 months of employment at MCH.”

NSI refused to engage in the “bait and switch” tactic and as a result, NSI was prevented from earning an additional $340,000 in fees, the lawsuit stated.

In addition, the hospital’s outstanding balance is $1,875,000, the lawsuit stated.

NSI is seeking damages, attorneys’ fees, the costs of the lawsuit and interest.

Trevor Tankersley, director of public relations for MCH, said “although MCH has not yet been served with this lawsuit, we can’t comment on any pending or future litigation.”
