Pagewood Learning Center ribbon cutting

The Odessa Family YMCA and Ector County Independent School District will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Y Pagewood Learning Center. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pagewood Learning Center, at 1111 Pagewood Ave.

The ribbon cutting event will include a 15-minute presentation with Crissy Medina, CEO of the Odessa Family YMCA, and Scott Muri, ECISD superintendent. There will be a tour and lunch following the presentation. Donors with Lego blocks will be able to place their block on the Lego wall inside the building.

In an exclusive partnership with ECISD, the Odessa Family YMCA Pagewood Learning Center will offer a Frog Street 3 Curriculum, specifically designed for pre-K to 3-year-old children, starting this fall.

The facility is unique compared to other schools as it will offer childcare before and after school.

“We look forward to opening our doors and showing Odessans what the Y and ECISD have been working on together for quite some time,” said Crissy Medina, CEO of the Odessa Family YMCA.

“It’s been nothing but a pleasure to work alongside with ECISD to provide another pre-k option for local families.”

“The YMCA has transformed this building into a welcoming, engaging space for children and families,” Muri said in a news release. “It is bright, it is colorful, and it is going to be a place where kids love to learn. We are excited to begin this partnership with the Y.”
