1. The unsettled question of how the City Council will call the election if the petition is deemed valid still leaves open the possibility of a November election, which raises further questions of how the changes would take effect if voters approve them.
2. The race is on for the Ector County Commissioner Precinct 2 seat as incumbent Greg Simmons and former city councilmember Brandon Tate go back and forth on issues — real or perceived — the county faces.
3. The Texas Education Agency has extended the deadline for Ector County Independent School District to let the agency know if it plans to partner with anybody to help get its schools out of improvement required status.
4. Ector Middle School’s new food pantry received a delivery of about 8,000 meals packaged by AVID students from Odessa High School.
