SILVER CITY, N.M. The UTPB women’s basketball team could not overcome a slow start as the Falcons fell to Western New Mexico 56-43 in Lone Start Conference Tuesday at Drag’s Court.
The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter to set the pace early and not look back.
Paulina Rodriguez scored a game-high 18 points to lead Western New Mexico (7-11 overall, 3-8 conference). Cassandra Vickery added 13 points and Sara Lopez had nine points to go with six rebounds.
Khali Pippins-Tryon led UTPB (3-16, 0-11) with 13 points in the loss.
The Falcons return home on Thursday night when they host Texas Woman’s University at the Falcon Dome.
