‘Wild About Wellness’ healthy living event

STANTON Martin County AgriLife Extension have scheduled a Wild About Wellness, a healthy living event, from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Martin County Community Center in Stanton.
The event will offer screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, hemoglobin, capillary blood glucose, pulse and oxygen, hearing, grip, body mass index, speech/language, swallowing, cognition and more.
Information and resources will be provided by more than 15 area health agencies. Five 15-minute mini-presentations will feature information on hearing loss, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, Medicare/Medicaid programs, fall prevention, and trends in Martin County substance abuse.
A cooking demonstration will be held between 11:20 a.m. and noon.
In addition, Cobb Veterinary Clinic, PC, will provide pet vaccinations from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., including cat/dog rabies for $10, rattlesnake for $25, DHPP for $25, or $50 for the canine bundle, and feline vaccinations ranging from $15 to $30. Bordetella vaccine, heartworm tests and preventative, and flea and tick products will also be available at various costs.
The Wild About Wellness healthy living event will also kick off Martin County’s eight-week Walk Across Texas contest where teams of eight individuals have a friendly competition to see who can log the most miles walking, jogging, biking, or even dancing and aerobics.
