West Texas Warbirds name new head coach Tate Smith

West Texas Warbirds new head coach Tate Smith speaks to the media with Warbirds’ director of operations Misty Morris and assistant general manager Gus Quezada during a press conference Monday afternoon at the Ector County Coliseum. Smith graduated from Permian in 2007 where he played starting quarterback for two years. Smith later became part of the coaching staff of the Odessa Roughnecks and Rio Grand Vally Sol. Smith also coached high school’s such as Greenwood High School, Edinburg High School, Ballinger High School, and is currently an assistant coach at Odessa High School. The Warbirds’ first home game at Ector County coliseum will be 7:00 p.m. June 12 against the Amarillo Venom.
