TxDOT plans freight mobility workshop

A Texas Freight Mobility Plan workshop to discuss freight needs in the state is scheduled for Wednesday in the Odessa District of TxDOT.
The meeting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at UTPB’s CEED Auditorium, 1310 N. FM 1788 (southeast corner of FM 1788 and Highway 191 intersection).
The Texas Department of Transportation is in the process of updating the Texas Freight Mobility Plan to meet new federal requirements. Wednesday’s meeting is one of a series of meetings taking place across the state. The goal is to gain input on freight transportation needs, trends, challenges and opportunities from those who know the system best, according to a TxDOT news release.
TxDOT wants to hear from representatives from air cargo, shippers, receivers, rail, ports, trucking, energy manufacturing, retail agriculture, pipelines, freight forwarders, transporters, individuals or organizations involved in freight movement. TxDOT also wants to hear from the general public throughout the state.
At the workshop, TxDOT will:

  • Provide an overview of the existing Freight Mobility Plan;
  • Discuss the news federal requirements for the freight plan update;
  • Gather input on key freight issues, needs and challenges in the Permian Basin and across the state.
