Tim Hernandez Jr.

March 17 Odessa police arrested 24-year-old Tim Hernandez Jr. and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and evading arrest, both of which are state jail felonies; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor. While officers were working off-duty at 12:13 a.m. March 17 at Black Gold, 4555 E. University Blvd., they saw a man walk into the establishment and pull out his ID from his wallet. They also saw a bag containing a white powdery substance. Police made contact with the man, identified as Hernandez, and attempted to detain him, but he began using force against them. Hernandez continued to pull away from officers and refused to comply with their commands. He then ran out of the door and evaded officers on foot. Officers eventually caught up to Hernandez and placed him into custody. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Investigation revealed Hernandez had a prior conviction for evading. Hernandez, 1011 Zacatecas Ave., was being held March 22 at the Ector County Detention Center on $40,000 bond.
