TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: White leads RockHounds rally over Hooks

MIDLAND One inning can make all the difference and that was the case for the Midland RockHounds Thursday night.

The RockHounds used a four-run seventh inning to pull away for a 6-2 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks in a Texas League baseball series opener at Security Bank Ballpark.

Edwin Diaz and Luis Barrera hit back-to-back triples to lead the inning off before Mikey White hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field.

White finished 2 for 5 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

Midland capped off the flurry with an RBI double from Dairon Blanco.

Corpus Christi was led by Abraham Toro, who hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning for the only runs of the game for the Hooks.

Kyle Freidrichs made his RockHounds debut, going five innings and allowing three hits while striking out three. He did not factor into the decision.

Angel Duno (2-0) was credited with the win for Midland while Cristian Javier (0-1) took the loss for Corpus Christi.

The series continues with Game 2 of the series Friday at 7 p.m.
