TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds fall again to Corpus Christi

MIDLAND The Midland RockHounds were dealt another loss at the hands of the Corpus Christi Hooks, falling 9-6 in Texas League action Saturday night at Security Bank Ballpark.
The RockHounds (20-21 overall) took an early 1-0 lead on a Chase Calabuig sacrifice fly to score Luis Barrera in the bottom of the first inning.
However, the Hooks (21-20) scored nine runs over the next four innings, scoring three in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth for a 9-1 advantage.
While Midland managed to close the gap with three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth, it wasn’t enough.
Corpus Christi had 12 hits while the RockHounds had 10 hits and one error.
Matt Milburn was the losing pitcher for Midland while Carson LaRue took the victory on the mound for the Hooks.
The teams close out the series with a 2 p.m. game Sunday.
