TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: Midland lets lead slip against Springfield

MIDLAND The Midland RockHounds fell to Springfield on Sunday at Security Bank Ballpark.

The RockHounds gave up four runs to the Cardinals the top of the seventh to drop the contest 6-3.

Midland (2-2) jumped out to a lead with a run in the first inning after Melvin Mercedes scored on a Springfield error.

The Cardinals (3-1) answered back with runs in the third and fourth, but Midland responded in the sixth inning.

Richie Martin connected on a line drive to right field that he turned into an inside the park home run, plating Brett Vertigan in the process.

Springfield pulled away however in the seventh after a pair of errors from pitcher Kyle Friedrich sparked the Cardinals’ rally.
