TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: Deichmann’s homer lifts RockHounds

SPRINGDALE, ARK. Midland’s Greg Deichmann hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the RockHounds to a 7-5 victory against Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday at Arvest Ballpark.
It was Deichmann’s second home run of the game, after hitting a solo homer in the fifth inning. He finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs to pace the RockHounds (17-14).
Nate Mondou, Anthony Miller and Kevin Merrell all had two hits for Midland. Miller and Merrell were joined by Edwin Diaz in driving in a run.
D.J. Burt was 3 for 4 with a solo home run for the Naturals (12-19). Kort Peterson tied the game at 5 with his two-run homer in the seventh.
Trey Cochran-Gill (1-1) worked two scoreless innings in relief for the win. Franco Terrero (1-2) took the loss for Northwest Arkansas.
The last three games of the series saw the winning run scored in the ninth inning.
The RockHounds are off Wednesday before opening a four-game homestand against the Frisco RoughRiders at 7 p.m. Thursday at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland. Frisco enters the series with a half-game lead over Midland in the Texas League South Division standings.
