Feb. 27 Odessa police arrested 36-year-old Ruben Deleon and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony; tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony; and public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor. Officers pulled over a white Ford F-250 in the 5000 block of East Highway 80 at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 27. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The front passenger of the vehicle, identified as Deleon, was placed into custody for public intoxication. Officers then saw three bags of cocaine in the roadway next to the vehicle. Police reviewed their dash cam video and it clearly showed Deleon throwing the three bags of cocaine out of the door in an attempt to hide it. Deleon, 2219 E. Mile 12 N., Weslaco, was released March 1 from the Ector County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
