April 9 Odessa police arrested 49-year-old Roman Sandobal Jr. and charged him with driving while intoxicated, third or more, a third-degree felony. While investigating an assault that had just occurred in the 900 block of East 25th Street at 3 a.m. April 9, officers saw a man believed to be involved in the assault drive up on scene. Police made contact with the man, identified as Sandobal, and could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Sandobal failed field sobriety tests. Investigation revealed Sandobal had two prior DWI convictions. Sandobal, 904 E. 25th St., was being held April 11 at the Ector County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
