A Baylor graduate, Weaks received her master of divinity at Brite Divinity School at TCU and her doctor of ministry at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. She has served five churches in Texas and Missouri prior to her coming to First Christian Church in Odessa. She and her husband Dr. Joe Weaks serve as co-pastors to the congregation. The couple arrived in Odessa in 2014 and have since led the congregation through a property sale and purchase, complete renovation and name change to better reflect the mission of the church, now known as Connection Christian Church. Upon arrival to Odessa, she immediately immersed herself into the community. Shes is a member of the West Texas Crisis Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Samaritan Counseling Center. She is a regular columnist for the Odessa American. She is president elect of Odessa Arts and was this past year’s recipient of the Community Diva award for Leadership by the Permian Playhouse. She has authored numerous publications and is in demand as a speaker not only regionally, but across the nation.
