Pittsburgh Tourism and Hospitality Communities Commit to Your Health & Safety

(BPT) – As you’re making future travel plans, Pittsburgh should be at the top of your list. A mid-size city with big-city amenities, Pittsburgh is now a major leisure destination, home to a thriving arts and culture scene, an abundance of outdoor green space, numerous only-in-Pittsburgh attractions, as well as 90 unique neighborhoods for visitors to explore.
To ensure that travelers can visit the city with confidence, VisitPITTSBURGH and the Pittsburgh tourism and hospitality communities launched the Pittsburgh Global Health (PGH) & Safety Commitment — a lifelong pledge to visitors and residents to deliver a gold standard in health and safety practices.
“When it comes to planning their next trip, we know leisure travelers want to feel confident that destinations have state-of-the-art health and safety protocols, vetted by health officials, firmly in place,” VisitPITTSBURGH President & CEO Jerad Bachar said. “Commitment. It’s not just another buzzword. Rather, it’s our lifelong pledge to always prioritize the health of our residents and visitors.”
The PGH Commitment adheres to the health practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Health Departments and the City of Pittsburgh. The information presented through the PGH Commitment is an aggregation of in-place protocols from tourism partners throughout the Pittsburgh region.
Along with The PGH Commitment, the Pittsburgh International Airport has also implemented the PIT Safe Travels, which boosts health and safety measures already in place throughout the facility. The initiative also incorporates enhanced protocols that outline best practices for reducing the spread of germs along with other measures including on-site testing for travelers.
And, for those visitors who would rather drive into Pittsburgh, you’re in luck — the city is within a six-hour drive of 10 states, Washington, D.C., and parts of Canada.
Visitors have their pick of world-class accommodations in Pittsburgh, as well as mid-size boutique hotels, charming bed and breakfasts, rustic inns and more. New health and safety standards have been implemented throughout these options, such as contactless check-ins and upgrades in the sanitation process that include electrostatic sprayers with ultraviolet light and hospital-grade disinfectants, as well as prominent placement of hand sanitizers.
Avid artists, history buffs, sports fans and those looking for family time will be impressed by Pittsburgh’s eclectic attractions. Many museums and attractions have implemented timed ticketing, and visitors are encouraged to check the individual business’ websites for their additional COVID-19 protocols.
Restaurants, breweries and distilleries have upped their health and safety standards, too, allowing foodies, craft beer and spirits enthusiasts to conveniently and safely enjoy Pittsburgh’s varied offerings. And, revamped health and safety protocols also have been implemented at Pittsburgh’s retail stores, entertainment venues and throughout the many local transportation companies, too.
