OPD: Robbery suspect at large

Odessa police are asking for the public’s help in catching a suspect who reportedly walked into a Kent Kwik convenience store earlier this month wearing a white cover over his head and robbed the business at knifepoint.
Dispatchers received a 911 call at about 9:27 p.m. Jan. 3 about an armed robbery and sent officers to the convenience store at 2463 E. Eighth St. Video surveillance footage captured images of the masked man walking into the store with a metallic object in his hand and approaching a lone cashier, who was away from the register.
The cashier told officers that the suspect demanded money from the cash register while displaying a knife, “placing her in fear of her life,” the Odessa Police Department reported.
The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, OPD reported. Police described the suspect as a black man standing about 6 feet tall and wearing a black/gray long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and a white cloth or pillow sheet over his head. No injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the robbery can call the OPD at 432 333-3641 or the Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432 333-8477.
