OPD: Man robs wife, smashes SUV windows with ax

Odessa police arrested a 33-year-old man Friday accused of taking his wife’s purse and then smashing windows of her SUV with an ax while their 4-year-old son was inside.

Police reported arresting Sean Adam Vallejo on felony charges of endangering a child and robbery in addition to a felony warrant accusing him of violating his parole.

Police were called to the 2400 block of East Eighth Street at about 2:05 p.m. Friday about a domestic disturbance. There, in the parking lot of an auto dealership, a 28-year-old woman reportedly told officers that her husband, Vallejo, took their son.

Investigators reported determining that before the robbery, the couple was arguing when Vallejo grabbed their older son, who is 8, and forced him into his Lincoln Town Car.

Then, in the dealership parking lot, he reportedly asked his wife for money, and attempted to pull her out of her Lexus SUV before taking her purse.

Next, police say Vallejo grabbed the ax and “smashed several of the windows” of her vehicle while their 4-year-old son was inside. Police reported finding Vallejo about 30 minutes later in the 5900 block of Fort Worth Avenue in North Odessa and arresting him.

Police reported no one was injured but officers notified Child Protective Services.

Vallejo, 6519 El Paso Ave., was listed Monday as being held at the Ector County Detention Center on a total $32,500 bond.
