Odessa man arrested on marijuana charge

A tipster led Ector County Sheriff’s authorities Thursday to seize more than 29 pounds of marijuana, a small quantity of cocaine and arrest a man.
The tipster told the sheriff’s office that a suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Pedro Valenzuela, was living at a Golden Avenue location in south Ector County in possession of marijuana, a press release read.
As deputies approached the home at 16185 Golden Ave., they saw a man carrying a black pastic garbage bag from a yellow jet ski in the front yard toward a carport. A strong odor of marijuana came from the trash bag and several packages of marijuana were found inside, the sheriff’s statement read.
A total of 29.9 pounds of marijuana were seized along with a small undisclosed quantity of cocaine. Valenzuela was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony, and for having two active warrants for failing to appear in court.
Valenzuela, 16185 Golden Ave., was released Friday from the Ector County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
