UTPB Associate Professor of Art Chris Stanley talks to his students about the Raku process Tuesday afternoon at UTPB. The traditional Raku ware process was created in Japan and involves removing pieces while still red hot from a kiln and placing in the open air to cool. Western practice of the process is slightly modified and adds combustible material to the pottery while allowing to cool which can create a variety of effects and colors in the glaze.
