Multitude of tattoo artists slated to appear at annual show

Tattoo artists of virtually every stripe are expected to appear this weekend for the third annual Ink Masters Tattoo Show at the Ector County Coliseum.
Patrons can look for that special tattoo design or artist in Barn G Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fifty to 100 booths featuring the artistry of tattoo artists are expected to be shown, said Will Montoya, one of the coordinators of the event.
There could be four to five such artists displaying their work per booth, and the artists themselves are coming from as far out as Colorado and Oklahoma to attend the annual event in Odessa, Montoya said.
“We got them coming from everywhere,” Montoya said. “I’ve been a tattoo artist since I was 15. I’m 41 right now.”
“Odessa is my best show,” Montoya added.
The doors for Friday’s event are scheduled to open at noon and end at midnight. On Saturday, the event is slated to start at 11 a.m. and also end at midnight, coliseum operators said.
On Sunday the doors for the event will open at 11 a.m. and close by 10 p.m., coliseum officials said.
More than 200 tattoo artists and people who do body piercing are slated to show up for the event that coordinator Ray Hernandez promises to be a virtual feast for the eyes with a colorful display of designs and pictures.
“It’s (going to be) one of our best shows,” Hernandez said.
