MLK Jr. Day eventsEvents to honor Civil Rights leader with message of community involvement

The Black Cultural Council of Odessa has scheduled the following Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month events.
Today: 6 a.m., King breakfast with the Rev. Herbert L. Crisp Sr. of Midland as speaker at Odessa Regional Medical Center community room, 515 N. Adams Ave. The program begins at 6:30 a.m. Admission is free.
Today: 11 a.m., King Rally with speaker Javorian “Brother” Miller, student at Permian High School, at the Southside Senior Citizens Center, 900 S. Dixie Blvd. The youth of the community will perform. The event is free.
Today: 11:45 a.m., Freedom March line up at Southside Senior Citizens Center. The march will begin at noon. Participants are asked to bring their own signs and prizes will be awarded to the group with the highest number of participants. The event is free.
Feb. 4: 7:30 p.m., “An Evening with the Stars,” a banquet recognizing the young stars in the community at ORMC auditorium. Guest speaker will be Elder Venshard Dobbins with Potter’s House of Dallas. Tickets are $25, which may be purchased from any BCCO member.
