Minor injuries reported during two-vehicle collision with train

A train was derailed early Tuesday when a pickup and a car collided into it near West Loop 338, a Texas Department of Public Safety sergeant said.
The drivers of a gray Dodge truck and a red Saturn Eclipse were both heading east on Murphy Street at about the same time the train was coming out of a yard on the south side of the road, DPS Sgt. Oscar Villarreal said. The collision was reported at 2:45 a.m.
The crossing has no flashing lights or crossing guard arms but a posted yield sign, Villarreal said. The sergeant said the driver of the pickup reportedly “disregarded” the sign and collided into the train, as did the driver of the other vehicle.
Villarreal said the impact derailed the train which was put back on the rail within a few hours. Both of the motorists suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment and were issued citations, Villarreal said.
