A Midland man was killed during a predawn collision Wednesday when his full-size truck rolled off Interstate 20 and he was thrown from the vehicle.
Firefighters and police went to the area of Pool Road and Rochester Avenue where they found the motorist, identified as 28-year-old Ricardo Navarette, following the single-vehicle fatal wreck that was reported at about 4 a.m.
Officers learned that Navarette was behind the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado heading west in the 1000 block of East I-20 when he veered his truck to the right of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the Silverado to tumble down an embankment and land in the area of Pool Road and Rochester Avenue, the Odessa Police Department reported.
Navarette was ejected out of his pickup as it rolled and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. It was not specified whether Navarette wore a seat belt.
