Michael McCowan

March 21 Odessa police arrested 26-year-old Michael McCowan and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony; and evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest, both of which are class A misdemeanors. While patrolling the 2900 block of East Highway 80 at 3:02 a.m. March 21, officers saw a suspicious person walking between vehicles located in the Motel One parking lot. Police attempted to make contact with the man, but he immediately began running through the parking lot. The man, later identified as McCowan, ran into a barbed wire fence before running right into officers. McCowan refused to comply with officers’ commands and resisted arrest. Eventually he was placed into custody and was found to be in possession of a handgun. Investigation revealed McCowan had a felony conviction out of St. Louis, Mo., for possession of a firearm. McCowan, 5327 College Ave., St. Louis, Mo., was being held March 23 at the Ector County Detention Center on $12,000 bond.
