MEN’S BASKETBALL: UTPB’s Francis wins Regional Player of the Year award

UTPB forward Daeshon Francis was the named the South Central Region Player of the Year by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association on Monday.

Francis averaged 18.9 points per game while grabbing 6.6 rebounds per contest this season. The junior also led the team with 48 steals.

The Falcons finished the season at 26-6 and won the Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament titles. The squad also made its first trip into the NCAA Division II tournament, falling to Texas A&M-Kingsville in the opening round.
