Man arrested on warrants

Ector County Sheriff’s deputies chased after a man on foot Friday and arrested him for having active warrants for resisting arrest and failing to appear in court on that charge.
Dispatchers received a call at 7:40 a.m. about an unwanted person and sent the deputies to the parking lot of the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 6000 block of West University Boulevard.
The suspect first gave the sheriff’s deputies a fake name but they learned through a records check the man they confronted was 37-year-old Justin Montgomery, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputies tried arresting Montgomery, but he reportedly ran only to get caught and face an additional charge of evading, a class A misdemeanor, and failure to identify. Montgomery remains in custody at the Ector County Detention Center with no bond set, the sheriff’s office reported.
