Man arrested on evading arrest/detention charge

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office arrested Josh Perez, 32, 2728 Keystone, Odessa, Sunday on a charge of evading arrest/detention. He remained in the Ector County Jail on a $20,000 bond Monday evening.
Deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 7100 block of West 24th at 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning, a news release said.
When the officer activated his emergency lights and siren, the motorcycle sped off evading the officer, the release said. A pursuit began and the motorcycle disregarded stop signs and passed vehicles crossing into oncoming traffic, the release said.
The driver lost control at the intersection of 16th and Redondo, causing the motorcycle to fall over. The suspect then fled on foot, but was captured quickly by officers, the release said.
The driver, identified as Perez, was taken into custody and charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony.
