A man was arrested during the weekend on two warrants accusing him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in January.
The Odessa Police Department charged Octavio Gonzales Silva, 21, with one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first degree felony, and one count of indecency with a child (sexual contact), a second-degree felony, the OPD reported.
Silva’s arrest stemmed from an accusation of sexual assault that reportedly occurred Jan. 19 and involved the teenage girl. The incident was reported to the OPD and the suspect was identifi ed as someone known to the girl, the OPD reported.
OPD investigators learned “that on one occasion in Odessa, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim,” an OPD press release read. “Further investigation revealed that the suspect also made sexual contact with the victim on at least one occasion.”
Two arrest warrants were obtained for Silva who was arrested Saturday. Silva’s booking arrangements were not immediately available at press time.
