Jan. 8 Odessa police arrested 41-year-old Jose Sergio Ayala and charged him with credit card abuse, a state jail felony; and evading arrest, a class A misdemeanor. Officers saw a pedestrian walk across the roadway and nearly hit a patrol unit at 11:55 p.m. Jan. 8 in the area of Clements Street and Washington Avenue. Police activated their emergency lights and the pedestrian immediately began to evade them on foot. Officers caught the man, identified as Ayala, and found him to be in possession of a credit card that belonged to someone else. Ayala, 807 S. Lincoln Ave., was being held Jan. 12 at the Ector County Detention Center on $8,500 bond.
