Jan. 24 Odessa police arrested 23-year-old Jesse Anthony Valenzuela Baeza and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a third-degree felony; possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), a class B misdemeanor. Officers pulled over a silver 2009 Nissan Altima, driven by Baeza, in the 1700 block of South Grant Avenue at 10:03 a.m. Jan. 24. Police made contact with Baeza and could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers found Baeza to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, 4.5 grams of hydrocodone and a homemade aluminum foil pipe. Baeza could not provide a prescription for the hydrocodone. Baeza, 446 W. Apache St., was released Jan. 25 from the Ector County Detention Center on $16,500 bond.
