Jan. 1 Odessa police arrested 33-year-old Jason Dedner and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony; and unlawfully carrying of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor. Officers pulled over a blue 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Dedner, at 2:19 p.m. Jan. 1 in the 100 block of South Dixie Boulevard. Police found Dedner to be in possession of cocaine and a loaded Springfield Armory 1911-A1 handgun. Dedner, 1920 E. 56th St., was being held Jan. 5 at the Ector County Detention Center on $9,000 bond.
