March 26 Odessa police arrested 21-year-old Jason Alexander Gonzalez and charged him with assault by strangulation (family violence), a third-degree felony. Officers responded at 8:46 p.m. March 26 to the 3900 block of N. Grandview Ave. in reference to a domestic disturbance. Police made contact with a 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend, identified as Gonzalez. Investigation revealed that after both subjects got into an argument, Gonzalez punched his girlfriend on the right side of her face with a closed fist. Gonzalez then placed both of his hands around his girlfriend’s neck and began squeezing and pulling on her neck, impeding her breathing. Two witnesses confirmed that they saw Gonzalez choke his girlfriend. Officers observed red marks around the girlfriend’s neck, along with a scratch on the right side of her face. Gonzalez, 713 Roxanna Ave., was released March 28 from the Ector County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
