HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Deanda drives in go-ahead run as Odessa High edges Midland Lee

MIDLAND Odessa High’s Cami Deanda doubled down the left-field line to push Novalyn Ontiveros across the plate for a go-ahead RBI in the top of third inning, and the Lady Bronchos held on from there to defeat Midland Lee 2-1 Tuesday at Gene Smith Field.

Alizea Garza’s solo home run in the top of the first inning was answered in the bottom of the first when the Lady Rebels scored a run to tie the game, but Odessa High held Midland Lee scoreless from there and Deanda’s RBI in the third proved to be the difference.

Sierra Camacho started in the circle for Odessa High and picked up the win. Elva Castillo came on in the sixth to earn the save.

The win lifts Odessa High to 15-4-1 on the season and 1-1 in District 2-6A play. Midland Lee fell to 17-4, 1-1.

Odessa High will step out of district action to play at Lubbock Cooper this Saturday before returning to league play Tuesday.
