HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Permian splits pair of games to end Tournament of Champions

MIDLAND Tyson Banks supplied a pair of home runs to lift the Permian baseball team past Plainview 5-3 during the first game of the final day of the Tournament of Champions, but the Panthers closed out the tournament with an 8-2 loss to Lubbock on Saturday.

In the first game, Rhett Bratcher tossed a complete game. He allowed three runs (two earned) on 10 hits.

During the second game, Lubbock High piled up 14 hits and eight runs. Brendain Valerio picked up the win for the Westerners, while Tyler Marquez was tagged with the loss.
